WEST CARROLLTON CITY COUNCIL, BZA, PC JOINT MEETING
Held January 8, 1998
PRESENT: Mayor Maxine Gilman, Councilmembers Jack Jensen, Bill Gordon, Daryl Garrison, Jeff Sanner, and Linda Lotspaih; Councilmember Bill Ennis was excused; City Manager, G. Tracy Williams, and David Humphreys, Planning & Economic Development Director; Board of Zoning Appeals members, Colleen Smith, Ray Snider, Fred Fox, Janet Myers, and David Berrett; Planning Commission members, Barb Bennett, and Bob Stealey.
Mayor Gilman opened the meeting by asking if there were any concerns which the Planning Commission or the Board of Zoning Appeals wished to discuss.
It was noted that the city zoning regulations need to be examined with regard to the definition of, "What is an auto wrecking yard vs. an industrial processing facility." Questions have arisen regarding this definition as it relates to the metal shredders operation on Farmersville-West Carrollton Road. Also, concerns were expressed about the use of portable signs within the city. Some felt that additional controls were needed, and that possibly these signs should even be eliminated; however, others felt that these signs were important to businesses and that they should be allowed. Generally, it was felt that the city needed to take a comprehensive look at the sign code to see what the issues are and what changes need to be made.
Discussion was also held concerning future improvements planned for the Marina Drive area; the possible construction of a recreation center; and landscaping along S.R. 725.
It was agreed that the next joint meeting of the City Council, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals would be held on Thursday, May 28, 1998, at 7:30 p.m.
Having no further business, Councilmember Daryl Garrison moved to adjourn. Councilmember Jeff Sanner seconded the motion. All members present voting Yes, the motion carried.
